Blitz THE County Under 15 Super-Touch 10-a-side Blitz which kicked off on Thursday, September 6 with four teams taking part: Listowel Emmets, Beale, St. Senans and Ballydonoghue.
These four teams were chosen on the basis that they were the top four Under 14 teams in North Kerry in 2011. All games were played in Duagh with each team playing each other on a league basis and after some exciting fare it was Ballydonoghue winning all their games qualified to meet St. Senans in the final on Tuesday, September 18. Ballydonoghue were outright winners and now advance to represent North Kerry in the quarterfinals of the County later this month.
The Player of the Tournament which was sponsored by Liam Dennehy, Duagh went to Ballydonoghues outstanding Kieran Lynch and presented by Chairman of the North Kerry Football Board, Billy Enright. Gerard O'Carroll St. Marys, Asdee was referee for all the games. Overall this was a huge success and great credit is due to John Dillon, GNA North Kerry, who organised this competition from start to finish. Coiste na nÓg THE AGM of Coiste Scor Chiarrai will take place at the Austin Stack Park , Pavilion on Thursday, October 4 commencing at 8pm sharp. It is requested that all District Board and club cultural officers should be in attendance. Scór IT'S drawing closer to that time of year again when Scór competitions will be getting underway; so all clubs are requested to start preparing for the event with a date and venue to be confirmed.
First up will be Scór na nÓg which will be for competitors under 17 years. Who will forget the grand finale to this competition which began in the Marian Hall, Moyvane on Sunday, November 13 2011 and ended in a blaze of glory in Castlebar, County Mayo on Saturday, February 19 2012 where the Ballydonoghue Instrumental Music Group of Moira O'Connell, Cassandra Cremin, Jason Foley, Kieran O'Connell and Kevin O'Neill were crowned All Ireland Scór na nÓg champions?
Of course, let's not forget the St Senans Novelty Act Group who gave an excellent performance before just losing out in the Munster Finals. Clubs are reminded that it is compulsory to take part in any two of the eight competitions, but you can compete in as many of the competitions as desired. Seven clubs took part last year; Ballydonoghue, Beale, St. Senans, Moyvane, Listowel Emmets, Knockanure and Asdee.
This year we hope to add Duagh, Ballylongford, Tarbert, Clounmacon and Finuge to the competition. In fairness all the various club scór officers are doing tremendous work in promoting scór in their clubs so once again keep up the great work for the 2012/13 season. Next week we will have a full list of all the club scór officers.
