KNOCKNAGOSHEL haven't a great record in the championship not progressing past the first round or quarter-final since 1997.
1997 was the club's best year reaching the semifinal, beating Duagh in the quarter-final after getting a bye in the first round. They lost to Beale in the semifinal and Listowel won the final. 1992 and 1993 saw relative success when they defeated Brosna in 1992 before losing out to that year's winners Ballydonoghue. In 1993 they beat Listowel, but lost to Duagh. In 2002 the club opted to go intermediate and won the competition defeating Asdee in the final. Last year Knocknagoshel lost to runnersup Beale in the first round. In 2009 they lost the quarter-final to that year's winners Listowel, while in 2008 they lost to this year's opponents Ballyduff in the first round.
In 2010 they lost a first round replay to Ballylongford in what was the year of the replays with five draws in the first round. Will this year have more sucess for the club or will there next oppents Ballyduff have to something to say about that.
Ballyduff's record in the champioinship see's them with three North Kerry titles. They won in 1994 when they beat Ballydonogue in the final, in 2005 and 2006 they beat there great rivals Listowel in both finals.
Ballyduff lost finals in 1948 to Tarbert and in 1963 to Moyvane and in 1968 to Ballylongford and in 1993 again to Ballylongford.
Ballyduff threw their lot in with Ballyconry for a number of years and reached a semi-final in 1956.
In the nineties and noughties they were hugely successfull at underage winning several minor and under 21 titles and many juveniles as well, so will these underage players come of age and provide Ballyduff with their fourth title?
