Sir, Brother Raymond Grainger (aka. An Bráthair Réamann) died in Castletown, Portlaoise, in 2007 at the age of 92. He was a much-loved De La Salle Brother who had a wonderful impact on the many students he taught during the course of his long life. He was a gifted maths and science teacher who had the happy knack of making even the most complex concepts appear relatively easy.
Former students of Brother Raymond among the readership of The Kerryman may have come to know Raymond either in Waterford Training College between the years 1951-1967 or in Coláiste Íosagáin, Baile Bhúirne, West Cork from 1970-1989. I myself was blessed to have known him as a student in Waterford and as a community confrere in Coláiste Iosagáin.
I am currently trying to write a brief life of Brother Raymond and I would really appreciate it if former students of him would drop me a note with their recollections of him - in English or as Gaeilge - to <firstname.lastname@example.org>. Or, if you know anyone who would have known Brother Raymond, you might be good enough to bring this appeal for information to his/her attention. Míle Buíochas.
