KERRY based communications firm Altobridge has secured the rights to use technology that should allow it to dramatically reduce the cost of providing mobile coverage in remote areas.
The company, which is based at Kerry Technology Park in Tralee and which was last year named as a 'Technology Pioneer' by the World Economic Forum, this month signed the deal which will allow it use products designed by Belfast based IT firm Replify. The products can increase mobile network capacity by over 50 per cent and reduce the costs of delivering mobile broadband.
"Altobridge has spent a decade driving down the cost of remote communications access," said CEO Mike Fitzgerald.
"Over the last three years, we have concentrated on mobile broadband optimisation and this turnkey solution enables the world's mobile network operators to truly bridge the mobile broadband divide," Mr Fitzgerald said.
