The late Pat Williams
PAT WILLIAMS of The Orchard, Mounthawk and formerly of Ashe Street, Tralee, passed away suddenly after a short illness on Saturday, March 2, aged 76 years. Pat died in Cork University with his loving children by his side.
He was the proud son of Patrick 'Belty' and Maise Williams and was the eldest of three children, with sisters Antoinette and Morna.
Pat met his beloved wife Joan Flannery, Dundalk and they married in 1960. They had four children, Kay, Patrick, Mark and Sarah, all of whom he loved and adored.
In the 1960's, Pat joined his father and they ran the family business, P.H. Williams & Son, Electrical, Castle Street, Tralee.
He was an avid golfer, a member of both Tralee Golf Club and Ballybunion. He became captain of Tralee in 1974 when the club was based in Mounthawk. The club in later years moved to Barrow where Pat became president for two years, 1985 and 1986. He was a serving Trustee of the Club up to the time of this death.
In the earlier years, Pat loved to meet his friends in Jess McCarthy's where he enjoyed many a good night, in the later years it became O'Donnells, Mounthawk.
The removal of Pat's remains took place from the Gleasure Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 5 to St John's Church. Requiem Mass was celebrated on Wednesday morning at 10am followed by private cremation in the Island Crematorium, Cork. Members of Tralee Golf Club provided a guard of honour at the removal and church for their former colleague.
Pat will be sadly missed by his children Kay, Patrick, Mark and Sarah, grandchildren Aoife, Eamonn, David, Ciaran and Darragh, sisters Antoinette and Morna, daughter-in-law Anne, and son-in-law Chris, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Pat is now finally at peace with his wife Joan.
