The boxers included are Saoirse Kelly, Adam Broderick and Barry O’Connor.

THE noble art of boxing has always been about giving more than you get and members of the local club have been applying that logic at another level in recent weeks.

Sliabh Luachra Boxing Club and Boxercise Class members have been contributing food items to a stock-pile over the past couple of weeks. From the contributions taken in over the period the club made up food hampers and, on Monday evening they were donated to the Castleisland branch of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

"The club members have been learning of the importance of giving and sharing at this time of the year," said club leader, Jennifer O'Sullivan-Coffey.

The club meets every Monday and Thursday night and the sessions are attended by members ranging in age from as young as five years in the boxercise classes and ten and upwards in the boxing club.

There are over 60 members in the club under a very strong and dedicated committee.

"We would like to thank all the members and their families for helping us to make the hamper project a great success. The members were delighted to be able to help out in their own community at Christmas time," said Jennifer.
