Top Ireland and UK drivers for Circuit of Kerry
Some of Ireland and the UK's top drivers will descend on Tralee this weekend for the annual Circuit of Kerry rally.
The rally, which takes place on Sunday and is based at The Fels Point Hotel, is expected to attract hundreds of motoring enthusiasts and rally fans to Tralee over the weekend with only a handful of rooms in hotels and B&Bs still available in town.
Organisers expect a great weekend's rallying action with this year's line up boasting one of the strongest entries - including 15 World Rally Cars - seen on a round of the Dunlop National Rally Championship since the days of the Celtic Tiger.
The cars leave from the Fel's Point Hotel on Sunday morning to take part in nearly 150km of rallying across nine stages in the Brosna, Castleisland and Lyrecrompane areas.
The Fel's Point Hotel Circuit of Kerry forms the second round of both the Dunlop Irish National and Top Part West Coast championships and this year's event has attracted a particularly strong field. this includes defending Irish national champion Declan Boyle, Welsh star Hugh Hunter, a former British Trials and Rally Drivers Association champion, former Irish national champion Niall Maguire, Irish Tarmac champion Kenny McKinstry and Group N champion Roy White.
Stage one is sponsored by Ahern's Opel dealership in Castleisland who will also host the annual Vauxhall Opel Owners Club Kerry gathering on the eve of the rally.
Local business West Coast Tuning are the sponsors of stage two with Ahern's BMW supporting stage three. Tralee Chamber Alliance have also come on board as sponsors of the service park at the Fel's Point Hotel while visiting international crews have received additional help from the Banna Beach Hotel and TLI in Abbeydorney.
The rally gets under way with a ceremonial start at the Fel's Point Hotel at 9.05am on Sunday with finish ramp celebrations due to take place at the Fel's Point Hotel at around 5pm.
