CEDAR Galaxy have hit a real purple patch and are churning out great results in recent weeks. On Sunday they got the better of Skeliga in a good competitive cup tie.
In a close first half neither side could find the net, but Skeliga had a great chance to go ahead on the stroke of half-time when they were awarded a penalty, but Galaxy goalkeeper Paul Murphy saved it making it his second peno save in the space of a week.
The second half started with a quicker pace and Galaxy got the break through after the in form Joe Donovan fed Conor Collins who made no mistake firing across the keeper from the edge of the box.
Within five minutes Skeliga levelled through Stevie Boyle from a smart run after a corner flashing home a close range header. Galaxy again rose their game and Joe Donovan again played a nice one two with John Foley and Foley found the far corner from 25 yards.
Skeliga pushed on to get back into the game, but were getting caught on the break by the Killarney side and put the final nail in the coffin when Owen Kerrisk squared the ball to Donovan who made no mistake from 12 yards.
The best performers for Galaxy were Frank Cronin, Ger Foley and Dwayne Griffin. While for Skeliga George Best, Ronan McCarthy and Stevie Boyle were always impressive.
