IT has been another fairytale season by Shanakill Athletic winning the Division 2 title and now in with a chance of winning a double if they can keep the winning sequence going. They looked dead and buried in the semi-final two weeks ago but lived to fight another day after a dramatic 94th minute equaliser against Dynamos.
Since then they have defeated Premier A side Castleisland in the Castle Bar Cup but went down heavily last Sunday to The Park. Dynamos will be a stronger side going into this replay as they will have Eoin Cassidy and Shane Lowth back and they will be difficult to overcome on this occasion.
Shanakill are a side that play with a great intensity and passion and never give up until the final whistle sounds. They are solid at the back with Kieran McCaughley, James S O'Sullivan, Stefan O'Shea and Shane O'Dowd always turning in a good shift while Lorcan Seymour, Robert Lynch, Scott Hennessy and Brendan Coffey work their socks off in the middle of the park.
Up front they have gifted goal scorers in Graham O'Leary and Kevin Quirke. However Dynamos are a formidable side that is strong in all departments of play. They have seasoned defenders in Pa Daly, Tony Hennessy, David O'Leary and Niall Feehan. They are particularly strong at midfield with Billy Stack, Damian Diggins, Chris Kerins and Eoin Cassidy with a wealth of experience behind them.
Up front Adrian Mc Hugh is always good for a goal or two while young Shane Lowth would put the fear of god on any defence with his lightning speed and enthusiasm. I think this game will be decided in the midfield battle and the vote must go to Dynamos on this occasion.
