THREE Kerry sides begin their Umbro FAI Junior Cup campaign next Sunday when they meet Limerick Desmond League opposition in round one of the competition.
Dingle Bay Rovers who reached the last 32 last year travel of Shanagolden in West Limerick to meet Desmond League side Shannonside United. Dingle have proved themselves to be a very good cup side and they should be able to negotiate this hurdle against a side that play in the Premier Division and have lost two of their opening three league games so far this season.
The Park play Carrickerry again in West Limerick and that game at the request of the Limerick side will be played at Mounthawk Park on this Thursday evening September 13 with a 7.30pm kick off. They will be without Stephen O'Sullivan as he is suspended after being red carded in the game against Broadford United last Sunday.
Carrig United are a very good side who are presently leading the way in the Premier Division. However, The Park will be on a high after defeating Broadford and they are well capable of defeating Carrig if they play up to scratch.
Meanwhile, Listowel Celtic make the relatively short journey across the county bounds to play Glin Rovers. Listowel are a side that could do well in the competition this year as they have new signings Paudie Quinn back from Limerick and Kevin McCarthy of Tralee Dynamos joining their ranks. A number of other key players are also back so the club can look optimistically ahead.
Interestingly the winner of this game will be at home to Killarney Celtic in the next round which could lead to an all Kerry clash.
