ANOTHER big Tralee Derby awaits next Sunday when Shanakill Athletic and Tralee Dynamos meet in the Tommy Healy Cup final.
Both sides have been impressive in their path to the final and a great game is anticipated. Shanakill are on the crest of a wave at the moment fresh after winning the Division 2A title. Now widely admired for their fighting qualities Shanakill play with a great team spirit and are renowned for putting teams under pressure on the ball.
They have a good custodian in Gordon Carey while Emmy Quirke, Kieran Mc Caughley, James S O'Sullivan and Ethan Byrne keep a tight ship at the back. Lorcan Seymour excels where ever he plays while Brendan Coffey, Robert Lynch are natural playmakers. They are very potent up front with both Graham O'Leary and Kevin Quirke excellent strikers who find the net on a regular basis.
However, they meet a far more experienced Dynamos side, who have a whole host of players who have played at the highest level. They are strong at the back with Pa Daly, Niall Feehan, Tony Hennessy hard to get by. They are particularly strong at midfield with Chris Kerins, Damian Diggins, Eoin Cassidy and Billy Stack with a wealth of experience behind them.
Up front Adrian McHugh has not lost his finishing touch while young Shane Lowth is a very exciting young player who will run at defences at any given opportunity. Weighing up both sides it looks as if there won't be much between them and it will be interesting to see if the resilience and raw enthusiasm of Shanakill will overcome a more seasoned Dynamos side.
There is very little to choose between these two sides but I give the vote to Shanakill to complete a league and cup double.
