Shanakill and Skelliga both enjoy 7-1 wins

DENNY DIVISION 2A -- SKELLIGA FC had little difficulty of disposing of Inter Keanmare and the game was as good as over at half time when they went in 5-0 ahead. Star of the show for the South Kerry side was Sean Cournane who bagged a hat trick and took the match ball home with him.

The other scorers were Rad Keating, Johnny Clifford, Niall O'Driscoll and an own goal. Man of the match for the winners was Dara O'Sullivan who gave a superb display at midfield.

Shanakill Athletic 7 Mastergeeha 1

SHANAKILL Athletic remain in pole position after a thumping win over Mastergeeha. Kevin Quirke was the star of the show scoring four goals while Graham O'Leary bagged two and James O'Sullivan completed the scoring for the Tralee side. Richie O'Connor scored for Mastergeeha.


Cedar Galaxy 1 Mainebank FC 1

A COLD day at Killarney Celtic's all weather left both sides with a point each, the away side being the happier. Mainebank went ahead early in the first after a set piece resulted in Mike Lawlor poaching a goal.

The home side were under strength for this game and it showed in the first half. In the 43rd minute a set piece resulted in Conor Agnew being bundled over in the box, he dispatched the resulting penalty to the keepers left. Mainebank lost a player just before the half but teak tough defending and good tactics from Dwaine Griffin on the line seen them hold on for a point.

Galaxy raised there game in the second half limiting Mainebanks possession to a minimum and created plenty of chances but just could not finish, with Derry Ahern hitting the post three times and heading wide from close range. Mike Dowd and Seamus Daly were rock solid for the visitors while Derry Ahern, Mark Murphy and Shane Coffey were best for the home side.

Tralee Athletic 1 CS Abbeydorney 2

CS Abbeydorney caused the shock of the day in this division when they defeated title chasing Tralee Athletic to record their first win of the season. Kevin Orpen scored a brace while J Harman completed the scoring for the winners.

Valley Wanderers 2 Bayview Rovers 0

THESE two sides served up a good game in which both sides were very creative. After a close encounter it was the Tralee side that took the three points which moves them up into second position in the table just three points behind the leaders Na Fianna.

Once again Ger Myles was on the scoresheet for the winners while Peter Murphy scored the other goal. Debutant goalkeeper for Bay View Emmet O'Grady brought off some tremendous saves for the Ballyheigue side.
