A NEW club has also sprung up back Ballyheigue way called Bay View Rovers.
Many of the squad had been playing with the Ballyheigue B team last year and decided they wanted a different approach and formed the new club. The Secretary of the new club Adam Hanlon says that the idea to form a new club created a great response and they have 22 players training for their opening game in the league.
"The lads are very excited about the new club and can't wait for the first game. I was the acting manager for a while and with the assistance of the treasurers Mark O'Sullivan and Joe O'Halloran and we built up a panel of players. Then we recruited brothers Jeffrey and Tommy Foley from Tralee as dual managers of the side and they are coaching the players at the regular training sessions. The bulk of the panel are from Ballyheigue are but we have a few from Tralee, Causway and Ballyduff." Asked about their expectations for the year ahead he said their ultimate objection would be promotion. "We believe we have a team good enough to come out of the division if they play to their full potential," he commented. The new club will be playing their home games at Mounthawk Park and are eagerly awaiting their debut in the KDL.
