SOCCER is spreading its wings further in Abbeydorney with a new club now establised CF (Cumann Sacar} Abbeydorney. Some of the new club's players have played with local side St Bernard's and after they got relegated last season they decided to start afresh.
The secretary of the club Nigel O'Leary says that he has a good strong panel of players that have been training for the past 6 weeks. He has teamed up with Chris O'Brien to set up the club and they have acquied a sponsor in Kerry Glass and Glazing.
"The panel of playes are dedicated soccer fans and can't wait for the opening game. Chris O'Brien and myself have teamed up to manage the side and we are looking forward to the challenge it presents. We have a panel of 22 players and it is a realtively young side.
"Our expectations will be to finish in a good position in the league and if we get into the promotion contention that will be even better.
"We will be entering a few cup competitions and hope to do well in them," he told The Kerryman.
