Classic FC 0

Spa Road 1

THE Premier A relegation issue was decided during the week after the play-off games were played between Camp United, Classic FC and Spa Road. Camp United put themselves in a strong position when they defeated Spa Road. A 2-0 and a 0-0 draw with Classic FC ensured their safety.

It all then rested in the final play off game between Classic and Spa Road which was played at Mounthawk Park on Thursday evening. In this game a draw would be sufficient for Classic while if Spa Road won they would retain their Premier A status and Classic would go down. Consequently it was a tension charged game that hung in the balance right up to the final whistle.

Classic stayed in the game thanks to three magnificent saves by their goalie Gary Kissane.

However a goal eight minutes into the second half by Danny Feehan gave Spa Road the win that ensured their Premier A survival.

The defeat results in Classic being relegated. However with Eddie Lacey at the helm they should be title contenders in Premier B next season.
