Castleisland peg Shanakill back

Castle Bar

League Cup

Castleisland 2

Shanakill Athletic 2

IT looked as if a bit upset was on the cards in this game with Division 2 side Shanakill racing into a 2-0 lead against the Premier A side with goals from Graham O'Leary and Kieran McCaughley.

The home side had a chance of getting one back early in the second half but they missed from the penalty spot. However, they brought themselves right back into the game on the hour mark with a Dean Poolman goal. They were then very unlucky not to equalise when Aidan O'Callaghan was denied by the woodwork. However, they did earn another bite of the cherry in the 80th minute when a John Feehan shot came off a Shanakill defended and wound up in the back of the net.

On the night Shanakill deserved to take the game to a replay after a very spirited performance.

Listowel Celtic 4

Tralee Dynamos 4

AFTER an eight goal thriller at Pat Kennedy Park Listowel Celtic and Tralee Dynamos lived to fight another day in this thrilling Castel Bar Cup encounter.

Indeed Dynamos can consider themselves lucky to get another bite of the cherry as they were 4-2 down with just five minutes to go.

However, Danny Roche gave them hope when he chipped the Celtic keeper with a sweet volley and deep into added time Maurice O'Rahilly became the saviour when he headed home the equaliser.

Brian Murphy, Ian Murphy, Jamie Barry and Eddie Joe Walsh were the Listowel Celtic scorers.
