CASTLEISLAND FC are only one win away from clinching their place in the Premier A Final against The Park after two crucial wins during the week which puts them a point ahead of Killarney Celtic with both sides having just one more game to play.
Rattoo Rovers 0 Castleisland 1
They travelled to Balllyduff on Friday evening and in a dour game came away with the 3 points with a 1-0 win in a game best forgotton.the crucial score came in the first ahlf when Shane Loughlin headed home a Sean Og O Ciardubhain corner kick. The second half did not produce anything too spectacular with Castleisland defending their lead comfortably and wrapping up the three points.
On Sunday they entertained Inter Kenmare and they took the spoils in a canter against an Inter side that had nothing to play for. Aidan O'callaghan netted a hat trick while Sean Og O Ciardubhain scored another and Inter also conceded an own goal.
With The Park already in the final their opponents will be known next Sunday when Killarney Celic play Ratto Rovers in Ballyduff at 2.30 and at the same time Castleisland FC play Dingle Bay Rovers in Castleisland.
If Killarney Celtic win they will be on 44 points while if Castleisland win their last game agaiinst Dingle they will pip Killarney Celtic on 45 points.
Castleisland only lost one game all season and that was to Killarney Celtic 2-0 but had six draws.
Castleisland boss Edmund Hartnett is happy that their fate is in their own hands but they have to win the final game to ensure a place in the final so there is still a major hurdle to cross. Of course Celtic will get nothing easy in Ballyduff either so there is still everything to play for in those two crucial ties.
It has been one of the most exciting conclusions to Premier A for a while with so much at stake in those final two games while The Park can sit back and wait to see the issue decided before the big showdown in the final occurs.
