NATIONAL CUP WHEN we review this season next summer one of the highlights will be the run of Ballyhar in the National Cups. Their Under-14s pulled off another great win this week as they saw off Granagh to qualify for the last 32. Goals from Jake Flynn and David Kenny saw them defeat Granagh 2-1 at Murt Scott Park to set up another home tie in round 5 clash against New Oak Boys.
Joining them in next round will be Kingdom Boys who had a very good 4-1 win away at Charleville. Diarmuid O'Connor with two and Odhran Liston and Dillon Robinson were the scorers. They will have to make the trip to face Shelbourne.
Sadly Killarney Celtic bowed out as they got hit with a last minute sucker punch by Avenue United from Clare at Celtic Park. Gary Mathews got the Celtic goal but they go out losing 2-1.
In the Under-12s it was a case of 1 in and 1 out as Killarney Celtic came back from a 2-0 deficit at half time to win 4-2. Ryan Kelliher hit a magical hat-trick and Peter O'Sullivan got the goal that levelled matter at 2-2. Celtic will be delighted to have come out of the hat first again and will welcome Ballinasloe Town to Celtic Park.
There was hard luck on The Park who were hit with 3 early goals at Aisling Annacotty but to their credit fought back through goals from Leon Shambala and Cathal Foley. They tried very hard to find the equaliser but just came up short.
So with Killarney Celtic Under-15s (who face Wilton) already through the Kerry League still has four teams left in National Cup action. They will be in action after Christmas when the round 5 begins.
