Yet another English track, Oxford, bites the dust

IT defies belief that a total of 71 greyhound tracks have closed in England since 1961, 22 of these in the last 17 years. Oxford will join the list when it closes its doors on December 29. One can only imagine all the difficulties, especially financial ones, which these closures have created for all the breeders, owners and trainers in England and, of course, Ireland suffers from the spin-off affects. Which makes it a pretty disturbing story, does it not?
DON'T forget that there is an extra night's racing at Tralee Track this Thursday night, followed by the regular meetings on Friday and Saturday nights. Racing resumes at the Oakview venue after Christmas on Saturday, December 29.
