Tralee Pitch & Putt
MUNSTER MATCH-PLAY FINALS Last weekend in Parteen, Limerick the Munster Match-Play Finals took place. Tralee was represented by Tony Blake (Senior), Declan O'Connell (Inter) & Aidan O'Sullivan (Junior). On Saturday in the last 16 Tony Blake beat Liam O'Donovan on the 38th hole before succumbing to the Corkman Anthony O'Loughlin by 4&3. In the Inters Declan O'Connell received a walkover before winning his 1/4 final by 9&8 to book his place in the semi. Our Junior Aidan O'Sulilivan swept aside the challenge of Martin O'Sullivan (Rocklodge) by 6&5. In the 1/4 final he was up against another Kerryman Timmy Looney representing Castleisland. Both knowing their opponents strengths and weaknesses meant this game might go the distance and it's how it turned out with Aidan finally overcoming the challenge on the 3rd tie hole to book his place in the semi. On Sunday morning both Declan and Aidan came up against strong competitors and sadly Tralee's hopes were dashed. Well done to the three lads in their efforts representing our club at provincial level.
The club closing date for the National Stroke-Play Qualifiers is this Sunday (26th). Only those who have paid in advance will be permitted to enter. All other names will taken off the sheet. This qualifier will take place in Tralee on June 23rd.
