A YOUNG Tralee kickboxer has won a prestigious competition in Dublin to further enhance her growing reputation as one of the leading young martial artists in the country.

Naomi O'Brien made the long trip to Dublin at the weekend worthwhile when she won the Best of the Best competition there. The Best of the Best tournament is open to all martial arts styles, with O'Brien participating in the kick-boxing event. She was in the junior division up to the age of 17, where she won three fights to win out her division.

Naomi, who helps teach classes with her father, Michael, in Listowel on Mondays and in Tralee on Tuesdays, is on the Irish Kickboxing junior team. She is also currently a member of the Irish junior boxing team, which takes her to Dublin every Saturday to train with her Irish colleagues.

Naomi would like to thank Lee Strand for sponsoring her and making it possible for her to travel up to Dublin every weekend to train with the Irish boxing team.
