Racing can be a great leveller

GREYHOUND racing can be a massive leveller, as was well demonstrated by the misfortune which befell Paradise Madison in the final of the Comerford Cakes National Puppy Sweepstake at Shelbourne Park on Saturday night. Here was a greyhound which had clocked a phenomenal 27.67 for the 525yds trip in the semi-final a week previously and yet he failed to win in 28.49.
He might still have won but for falling when in a challenging position at the third bend, but the big lesson to be drawn from his defeat is that there is absolutely no such thing as a certainty in greyhound racing.
Even Dragon Field could be beaten in the semi-final of an A1 sweepstake at Tralee this Friday night!
