THE Pitch and Putt season clicks into gear this weekend with the staging of the opening two rounds of the Bob Casey Memorial Inter-Club Strokeplay at the Killarney courses of the Gleneagle and Deerpark on Sunday.
Play gets underway at 9am in the Gleneagle with competitors having until 10.15am to complete their rounds. Play at Deerpark gets underway at 10.15am with 12pm the last tee-time for competitors in the second round.
Six teams will take part in the event with Tralee looking to win their sixth title in seven years. A reminder to all competitors that this competition as with all County Board competitions is a dress code event. Round two takes place in Tralee and Castleisland on Sunday week.
Meanwhile, at last Monday night's County Board Meeting in Scott's Hotel, Killarney Deerpark's Michael Foley was elected as the new Competition Secretary.
Last Saturday saw the PPUI Annual Convention take place in Athlone, Co Westmeath with another Deerpark member Damien Fleming once again returned as a member of the NEC, this time to the newly created post of Children's Officer with the Union. The County Board would like to extend its best wishes to Damien in this new role.
