Parade to mark club's Trojan achievements

Published 15/05/2013 | 05:36

LISTOWEL is gearing up for yet another parade, this time to honour some of the incredible young boxing talent emerging from local club Trojan Boxing.

Last week, Listowel witnessed a military parade as part of its annual military tattoo. This week, it is the turn of Trojan Boxing to parade through the town in recognition of nothing less than an Irish gold medal for the club.

That medal was won by young Philly Hickey, who became the Irish champion at 44kgs recently, bringing another national title to Listowel at only 15 years of age. Fighting alongside her for Listowel in the national competition were Jane Downey and Aideen Spillane who also boxed out of their skins.

The parade will start at the club on Saturday, May 18, next at 8pm from their new base at the Clieveragh Business Park.
