BEFORE a sizeable attendance the Kerry Badminton Association's Annual General Meeting took place at the Grand Hotel, Tralee on Thursday night last. The following officers were elected for the 2012-2013 season: President: Mr Johnny Brosnan (Castleisland) Vice President: Mr Ollie Conyard (Moyvane) Chairman: Mr. Junior Griffin (Listowel) Vice Chairman: Mr. Michael Corridan ( Moyvane) Hon.Secretary: Mrs. Peggy Horan (Killarney) Asst. Secretary: Miss Brid Murphy (Castleisland) Treasurer: Mrs. Marion O'Neill (Tralee) Juvenile Chairperson: Mrs. Christine O'Connor (Dingle) Juvenile Sec: Mrs. Eileen Roche (Moyvane) PROs: Mr. Maurice O'Shea, (Tralee); Mr. James Sheehan, (Moyvane) ; Mr. Jnr. Griffin (Listowel) General Purpose Committee: All the above officers plus Mrs. Ann O'Sullivan, (Kenmare); Mr. Tom Clear, (Tralee) and Mr. James Sheehan (Moyvane)
One of the main discussions of the meeting dealt with the proposed new grading system to be introduced by Badminton Ireland and which will concern every player in the land. Mrs Peggy Horan, a member of the national grading committee, gave a detailed account of how this new system will affect all Kerry players.
It was announced at the meeting by PRO, Mr. Maurice O'Shea that the following Companies will sponsor the Kerry Badminton competitions over the coming season and the Kerry Association wish to sincerly thank all the Companies involved for their very gracious sponsorship.
County Championships and Leagues to be sponsored by Sweeney's Cost Cutters, Castle Street, Tralee. Agri Auto Parts, Listowel and Tralee, will sponsor the Ladies League; Ashes Bar, Glenbeigh, will sponsor the Mens League. C.P.C.,ie,will sponsor the 2 by 2 league.
All club delegates are requested to note the the first meeting of the new committee will take place at the Grand Hotel, Tralee on Thursday, November 1 at 8pm.
