NORTH Kerry Harriers Hunt Club, which was established in 2000, has made a major contribution to point-to-point racing in Munster, and have already organised and held two hugely successful meetings at Ballybeggan Park Tralee over the past two seasons.
On this Saturday, May 26, at Gortnaskehy Ballybunion, commencing at 4pm, they promote their annual point-to-point meeting,and the hard working hunt have left no stone unturned to ensure the successful staging of the meeting, which will attract owners, trainers and jockeys from Munster and beyond.
Since their formation the hunt have raised lots of money for charities, and have donated some €12,500 to the various charities which include Enable Ireland, Pallatine Care Tralee General Hospital, Nano Nagle and Respite. They are extremely grateful to their many marvellous sponsors who have contributed generously to the meeting, and appreciate that without their help and support the meeting could not take place.
The meeting commences with a 5-year old geldings maiden, sponsored by Purcell's Bar Ballyduff, and Berkie Brown Bookmakers, Race 2 on the card is, The Jim Hanrahan Memorial race, for 5/6 year old mares, sponsored by Hanrahans Country Kitchen Ballybunion, and Irish Wire Products, Dock Road Limerick. The winners of one contest, is sponsored by Fealesbridge Co-op. Beale Hill Wind Farm, and The Railway Bar Ballybunion, sponsor the 6-year old geldings maiden.
Kerry Co-op are sponsoring the Open lightweight, while the concluding 7-year old and up, mares and geldings race, is sponsored by Griffin Mobile Homes Ballybunion, and Courtney's Bar and Guest House Ballybunion.
