No joy for Killarney girls at Roganstown

OLIVIA Mehaffey from Royal County Down Ladies GC, who won the Munster Ladies title at Dooks at the end of March, added the Irish Girls Strokeplay title at Roganstown over the weekend.
Alas, there was no joy for the two Killarney girls in the field as Máiréad Martin missed the 36-hole cut by one shot after rounds of 88 and 85, while her club-mate Catriona Griffin finished well down the field after rounds of 82, 80 and 81.
This event will be part of the learning curve for both Griffin and Martin who are both still very young at 16 and 13 respectively, and no doubt we will hear from them again in future events of this type.
Mairead Martin caused a sensation at the recent Munster Ladies Junior Championships reaching the final at Dooks and eliminating Catriona Griffin along the way.
