KATIE Taylor's example has obviously had a big impact in Listowel where three young women, members of the Trojan Boxing Club, won Munster titles.
Aideen Spillane, Jane Downey and Philly Hickey each brought Munster gold back home and will now go forward for weigh-in at the National Stadium in Dublin on Friday next, April 26.
"We would like to wish the girls all the best from everyone at the club," Trojan organiser Helen O'Connor said. Trojan Amateur Boxing held a show in Tomáisín's in Lisselton on Friday with clubs coming from Limerick, Clare and Cork in a big success for the Listowel club. Meanwhile, one of their greatest female fighters Niamh Ball fought at the annual Haringey Boxing Club annual dinner in London in response to a special invite from the London club in another great bit of news for Listowel boxing and the reputation it is winning.
