KENMARE Kestrels kick-start their basketball season this Saturday, September 7, at Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine Gym with their annual registration from 10am to 12.30pm.
All boys and girls aged six and over, as well as all interested adults can come along and join up. The club is also asking for volunteers to act as coaches and committee members.
Also look out for the new Kenmare Kestrels' Facebook page for individual team training times or simply contact firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
Meanwhile, last Saturday Paul Kelleher of Glanmire Basketball Club was in town for a special coaching clinic at the Kenmare school gym. Paul is current Ladies Premier League coach for 'Team Montenotte Hotel Cork' and has coached at American and European camps for the past 13 years.
Also current Ireland U-16 Men's national team head coach, Paul said he was impressed with the enthusiasm he found in Kenmare.
"I was delighted with the level of interest shown here today and with the turn out of volunteers," he stated. Kestrels Chairperson John Adams thanked Paul and Basketball Ireland for their support, stating: "We all benefitted from Paul's efforts as he gave us a number of drills and ideas for the coming season".
