THE curtain came down on the Indoor season in Nenagh when the second weekend of the National Juvenile Championships were held. It was a great weekend for Kerry athletes Eoin O'carroll ( Tralee Harriers) and Kayleigh Cronin (Spa-muckross) who won gold medals in their respective events. O'carroll won the Boys U18 Long Jump with a fantastic leap of 6.83 metres. This gold medal added to his double gold on the first weekend of these championships in the triple Jump and 60 metres. Kayleigh's gold medal came in the U17 Girls Shot-putt with a fine throw of 11.48 metres. Both of these athletes can look forward with optimism to the upcoming outdoor season.
Our other medallists were Micheál Foley of Lios Tuathail who was an excellent 3rd in the U15 800M. Micheál's time was 2 minutes 12 seconds.
The Lios Tuathail U16 Boys 4x200m Relay team were also in the medals when finishing 3rd. The team was Jason Fahy, Micheál Foley, Kieran Lynch, Johnny O'sullivan and Cillian Walsh O'boyle.
