Incredible run prompts debate

THE incredible run of 27.67 for 525yds at Shelbourne Park by Paradise Madison has obviously set the powers-that-be thinking about the quickness of sand surfaces and, as it turns out, the Dublin venue is one of four Irish track which, from Monday next, will be rated between .15secs and .30secs fast on a given night.
Tralee is to be rated .20secs fast for middle distance races, .10secs fast for sprints and .40secs fast for long distance races.
Ratings at all tracks, it should be added, will be reviewed continuously.
UP to last week, two Kerry coursing enthusiasts were in the top six in the fantasy leaderboard operated by the SportingPress. Cyril McEnery, of Ballyduff, was in second place, on 400 points and 30 off the lead, while Collette O'Regan, of Causeway, was in joint fifth place, on 380 points.
The Christmas meetings will, needless to say, have changed things.
