A LEITH woman is preparing for a gruelling challenge beginning this weekend, which will see her take part in 10 triathlons in 10 days in aid of charity.
Alison Reidy (pictured right), from Leith in Tralee, is hoping to raise €3000 for the Hope Foundation by completing the events.
The thirty-one year old is heading to Kolkata in October with the 'HOPE You Can Paint' scheme. This involves painting and decorating crèches for one week.
Alison, who is a member of Tralee Triathlon Club and Ennis Triathlon Club, commenced training two months ago and will start her ten-day triathlon bid on June 20.
For the first nine days, Alison will attempt to complete a sprint triathlon, comprising of a 750m swim, a 20km cycle, and a 5km run in Shannon Swimming and Leisure Centre, Co Clare.
On the tenth and final day, Alison will double the distance to a 1500m swim, 40km cycle and a 10km run. This concluding triathlon will start in Kilkee, Co Clare with the race aptly called 'Hell of the West'.
Alison is used to completing triathlons. "I do triathlons all the time, so why not make it ten ina row," she said. She is looking forward to the experience but knows it will be an exhausting one.
