MORE than 80 athletes from across Kerry arrived at Tralee's Cumann Iosef Sport Hall on Saturday to take part in the Tralee Together Special Olympics Winter Indoor Games.
The games were hosted by the Tralee Together Special Olympics Team who were joined by athletes, coaches and fans from Killarney's Kerry Stars, the Skellig Stars from Cahersiveen and Listowel's North Kerry Eagles. An exciting and entertaining day's competition was enjoyed by all the athletes with the action kicking off just after 10.30 on Saturday morning and stretching on well into the evening.
It is the seventh year the Tralee Together Team have hosted the indoor games and in the new year the Tralee side will take part in return fixtures in Killarney, Cahersiveen and Listowel.
Next year the Tralee Together team will also be celebrating their tenth anniversary and Chairperson Kit Ryan said the club is planning a number of events to mark the club's successful ten years in competition.
The organisers of Saturday's games were aided in their efforts by a group of transition year students from each of Tralee's Secondary Schools.
