THE Kerry minor camogie team travels to Kildare on Sunday next for the quarter-final of the All Ireland Championships. Having beaten Kildare at home already, a win will see them through to a semifinal place against either Westmeath or Down.
In the Munster B final against Waterford on Friday last at the newly opened Cork Camogie Grounds in Mahon, a depleted Kerry team lined out for this fixture. Starting well Kerry were on the board with two points from placed ball by Patrice Diggin and Sara Murphy.
However, Waterford after a slow start started to open up the play and at half time this game was over as a contest with a scoreline of 2-13 to 0-3. Credit to the Kerry girls who came out in the second half and scored 2 -6, but with Waterford fielding eight senior inter county players, Kerry just had no answer.
A serious step up in class, with the final score Waterford 7-16 Kerry 2-9.
Under 14 Limerick League
ROUND 4 of the league saw Causeway travel to Croagh and in winterlike conditions, and missing some key players, Croagh ran out winners on a scoreline of 1-5 to 7-5. Cillard travelled to Adare and fared out much better, winning on a scoreline
of 3-2 to 2-1.
Under 16 A Limerick League
CILLARD play Ballyagran in the quarter-final of this league at Kilmoyley GAA grounds this Friday ( April 13) at 6.30pm. Without midfielder Orla Young and an injury to centre- forward Alanna Maunsell it will be a tough campaign against the girls from east Limerick.
However, Cillard's never say die attitude has pulled them out of the fire before, and they should be through to the semi finals going on current form.
Under 16 B Limerick League
CAUSEWAY are through to the semi finals, having beaten Bruff last week on a scoreline of 4-3 to 3-1. They will meet either Knockaderry or Bruff on April 20.
Under 12 Limerick League
THIS league will commence shortly for Listowel, Causeway and Cillard. Best of luck to all teams, and especially to Listowel who are competing in Limerick for the first time.
Junior Limerick League
AT the time of going to print, Clanmaurice take on Ahane bank holiday Monday in Round 4.
CAUSEWAY held an Under 12 blitz last Saturday and also hosted a novely Easter Egg hunt in the grounds of the GAA pitch. Good weather ensured a big turn out for both, and it is hoped to run this event on an annual basis.
