Love on the run; a marathon ends in wedded bliss

A MARRIAGE proposal, made during the 2013 Kerryman Dingle Marathon, has resulted in wedded bliss.

Kevin McLoughlin, who was competing in the 50-mile Kerryman Dingle Ultra Marathon, had been busy plotting the proposal for weeks and Ann, who was under the impression that he was participating in the ultra to celebrate his 50th birthday, was caught completely unawares.

Kevin joined fellow ultra-marathon competitors at the start line in Camp on the morning of the 2013 Kerryman Dingle Marathon and the plan was that Ann would join her partner in Dingle and cycle the remainder of the route around Slea Head with him, providing water, sustenance and much needed moral support.

Everything went according to plan and upon reaching the 31st mile, Kevin gave Ann the surprise of her life on Slea Head by proposing – and she said yes!

Kevin contacted The Kerryman this week to confirm that he and Ann were married on January 23 and the happy couple are looking forward to returning to Dingle as husband and wife.
