Killarney Celtic extend lead at top of Premier A

KILLARNEY Celtc extended their lead at the top of Premier A on Sunday when they won the battle of the Celts at Pat Kennedy Park in Listowel.

Peter McCarthy was on the mark twice for the winners while Pa McGrath scored the other goal. James McCarthy was the Listowel scorer.

KILLARNEY Athletic are keeping themselves in contention for making it to the final with some good results in recent games.

On Sunday they picked up three more points with a comfortable win over Camp United with a brace of goals each from Cian Tobin and Alan O'Sullivan.

CASTLEKNOCK gave their chances of making it to the Premier B final a significant boost when they defeated the league leaders Asdee Rovers in West Kerry. Colm Silles, Jordan Quirke and Padraig Quirke scored for the winners.

Ballymac Galaxy 2

BALLYMAC Galaxy keep themselves in the hunt in the title race when they accounted for Lenamore Rovers at Ballylongford. Michael Collins and Sean Jemal were the Ballymac scorers.

CASTLEMAINE secured the three points in a good competitive game.

Castlemaine went in 2-0 up at half-time with their goals coming from Alfie Giles and Jerome Flynn. Celtic pulled one back in the 70th minute from Jo Jo Fleming, but were unable to secure an equaliser. Best for Castlemaine were Nigel Wren, Eoin O'Neill and John Blennerhasset.

TRALEE Dynamos 100% record continued at Cahermoneen on Sunday when they had a comfortable win over Shannon Wanderers. Scott Monaghan scored twice, Danny Roche netted his 19th goal of the season and their other score was an OG.

LB Rovers 4

LB Rovers kept their aspirations of reaching the league final on track with a an impressive win over Newtown Athletic. Eoin O'Mahony, Timmy Kennelly, Stephen McSweeney and Barry O'Hare were the scorers for the North Kerry side.

SHANAKILL won the Tralee Derby in great style where Graham O'Leary was the star of the show getting a hat-trick while Brendan Coffey and Eimin Quirke also found the net. It was Valley Wanderers first game in six weeks so they were a bit rusty on the day.

KILLARNEY Celtic are through to the last eight in the FAI Youths Cup after a dramatic penalty shoot out win over College Corinthians of Cork at Celtic Park on Saturday.

In a close tie the Celtic goal was scored by Dan O'Donoghue from a Matt Keane free kick. With the sides deadlocked at the end of normal time and extra time it progressed to the shoot-out.

Here Celtic goalie Timmy Hussey was the hero saving two spot kicks with Celtic coming out on top 6-5. The Celtic penalty scorers were Paudie Clifford, Darren Doherty, Donal Lyne, Matt Keane, Dan O'Donoghue and Gavin Horan.

They will now travel to the west to play Mayo side Manulla in the quarter-final on the weekend of March 3.
