AS Killarney Celtic were winning their fellow townies Athletic were in action a quarter of a mile down the road at Woodlawn and they gave themselves a great chance of making it an all Killarney Premier A Final after a crucial win over Castleisland. In a game in which a player from each side were sent off Athletic were the better side on the day and were very worthy of the three points.

They went ahead in the first half when Michael Lyndsey scored from a corner-kick. Lucas Polac put them in a great position when he fired home their second goal. Then they had a player sent off, which put a lot of pressure on them.

Stan Divane pulled one back for the islanders early in the second half but Athletic sealed victory with another Lucas Polac goal.

Listowel Celtic 5

LISTOWEL took the three points with ease against an Inter side that are doomed to relegation. Hero of the game for the Fealesiders was James McCarthy, who scored a great hat-trick, while Brian Murphy and Joe Coulson also found the net.

It has been a very good season for Listowel Celtic who have a nice young side that play an attractive brand of football. Only for a few good young players going away they could have been further up the table.
