Kerry Supporters Club has a great night in Shelbourne Park
KERRY natives are on the march in the capital already with the revival of the Kerry GAA Supporters' Club at a gathering in the Shelbourne Park in Dublin on Thursday night.
The Gooch, Jack O'Shea and Donnchadh Walsh were among the Kerry football starts, past and present to rub shoulders with club members at an event made even more special by the presence of the inimitable Mícheál O Muircheartaigh.
Helping the club's rejuvenation no end is its chairman and current Kerry Person of the Year Luke Moriarty - a hotelier and retail magnate whose drive and expertise is bringing more and more people into the club fold.
"The club is a great opportunity for those supporters of Kerry GAA living in Dublin and neighbouring counties to meet," Luke said. "The club plans to hold a variety of social events through which it will support the efforts of the Kerry County Board to raise development funds for the Centre of Excellence project planned for Currans, Farranfore."
Underlining their dedication to the county cause was the presentation of a cheque for €10,000 by Luke on behalf of the club to John Joe O'Carroll, Eamonn O'Sullivan and Peter Twiss of the County Board. Meanwhile, a 'grand raffle' was held on the night including as prizes golfing holidays in Kerry and even an aeroplane trip around the Ring!
