Ten days later the Kerry Junior League gets underway on Tuesday April 15 at Tralee in the first of three fixtures in the month of April during the Easter holidays.

Three days later the next round takes place at Waterville on Good Friday (April 18) followed by Ballybunion's Cashen course on the following Tuesday April 22.

There's a break then until the next round at Killorglin on June 25 followed by Castleisland on July 4, Dooks on July 7, Ceann Sibeal on July 14, Kenmare on July 21, Skellig Bay on July 28, Ring of Kerry on August 11 and the final round at Mahony's Point in Killarney on August 18.

It's like a mini-European Tour if you throw in the Fred Daly at Beaufort on May 18 and June 22, the Radio Kerry Boys Championship at Dooks (on a date yet to be confirmed), the Munster Boys Championship at Ballybunion commencing July 30, the Kerry Boys at Ballybunion on commencing on August 12, the Limerick Boys at Newcastlewest on commencing on August 19, the J B O'Shea Under-14 Kerry Championship at Dooks on August 19, and finally the John Molyneaux and Joe Quinlan Shields at Beaufort on August 24.

So there's certainly enough there to keep our young golfers busy and out of harm's way for the summer months.

All of these events, with the exception of the Munster Boys, Kerry Boys and Limerick Boys, will be run by the newly formed Junior Regional West Committee 2014 which comprises of Michael Coote and Gat Carey from Tralee, John Molyneux and Michael Houlihan from Ballybunion and Kenmare's Pat O'Dwyer.
