Grade 1 win for Tralee's Bryan Cooper at Leopardstown

THE old adage in racing, of backing the outsider in a small field, came to fruition in spades, for Tralee jockey Bryan Cooper at Leopardstown races on Saturday, where he won the valuable Grade 1 Arkle Novice chase, value to the winner €52,000 on well supported outsider 16/1 to 10/1 chance Beneficient, for Summerhill, Co Meath trainer Tony Martin.

Always travelling well, he was left in second four out, when hot odds on fav Arvika Ligeonniere fell. Racing into the straight Oscars Wells led, but made a terrible mistake at the last, as Bryan which was clearly going best at the time, went clear, to win unchallenged by 20 lengths.
