Colm Cooper with the Dr Crokes team who participated in the Cooper Invitational Blitz 2013 sponsored by the Coffey family at Dr Crokes GAA grounds, Lewis Road, Killarney on Saturday.

THE Aquila Club O'Donoghue Cup, East Kerry Senior Championship, first round games are well under way.

There are five first round fixtures and the winners join the three seeded teams in the quarter final. This year, the three seeded teams are Dr Crokes and Rathmore, who are automatically seeded under the previous year's finalists rule, and they are joined by Kilcummin who were pulled from the hat, from the pool of teams with a Kerry Senior player.

The draw for the first round games was Scartaglin v Gneeveguilla, Currow v Cordal, Spa v Firies, Legion v Glenflesk and Fossa v Listry with first named teams having home venue. Gneeveguilla, Currow and Listry have already qualified for the quarter final stage. The remaining games see Spa hosting Firies next Sunday and Legion at home to Glenflesk on the 21st or the 28th depending on the outcome of the Minor County Championship.

East Kerry Board Fixtures

THE East Kerry Board is working hard, and with the co-operation of clubs and team management, to complete our fixtures programme for 2013.

We are delighted that so many East Kerry teams are involved in the latter stages of the County Novice, Junior, Intermediate, Club and County championships.

It's a great reflection on football in the district and we wish them all every success.

This success leads to a lot of clauses being attached to the list of fixtures, because of the juggling that will be involved to achieve the completion our fixtures programme. Please understand that our remaining fixtures will be played at the earliest possible dates and the board will be keeping clubs to date regularly.
