Heartbreak for Causeway

CAUSEWAY Comprehensive suffered a heart breaking one point defeat after extra time to Athenry Vocational School in last Saturday's Masita GAA All-Ireland Vocational Schools Junior Hurling Final. Final score was 2-14 to 1-6. Though defeat was their lot, great credit to all involved for such a fantastic feat in getting to the final.

Championship 2013

NINE teams are participating in the 2013 Kerry Senior Hurling Championship [Abbeydorney, Ballyduff (holders), Ballyheigue, Causeway, Crotta O'Neill's, Kilmoyley, Lixnaw, South Kerry, St. Brendan's]. There will also be a change of format this year. Teams will be drawn into three groups of three with the top team in each group qualifying for the semi-finals. There will then be a play off between the second placed team in each group for the fourth semi-final position.

In the group stages where teams finish on same number of points, the result of game between the sides and scoring difference will apply while in the play-offs for the fourth semi-final place. Extra time will be played if necessary. Round 1 is fixed for Sunday, July 21 with county hurling final day on Sunday, September 29.

The County senior hurling league Division 1 will commence on the weekend of April 14 with Division 2 taking place each Wednesday from April 17. Kerry's first outing in the Christy Ring Cup competition will be away to Down on Saturday, May 4.
