AN ERROR made by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport denied Killarney Rugby Football Club up to €300,000 of vital funding for the development of its new facilities at Cahir, Aghadoe.

Department of Sport officials admitted to the club that they "had made a mistake" that "resulted in the unfair treatment of Killarney RFC". The club was told it would be considered for funding again in October.

However, Killarney RFC heard nothing from the department during October, but members remain hopeful that they will see money when new funding is rolled out in December.

"We have been promised numerous times and let down on each occasion so far," said Liam McGuire, development chairman at the club.
