Sir, With regard to a controversial matter, whether the GAA should pay inter-county managers. It is interesting to note that our former Kerry footballer and great star player Tommy Walsh has appealed to them not to pursue with this plan and asked that this money should be used to help the players.
In my opinion every senior player, footballer and hurler who graces Croke Park on All-ireland day, winners and losers, should be paid a package or bonus as such of € 100,000. Surely this is not too much to ask as it is well-earned throughout the year by these star players.
Furthermore, it would be an incentive to keep these young men at home. It is such a pity to lose many of them to football abroad. For the great entertainment they give to their followers and dedicated fans it would also be some recognition of their greatness. Sincerely, Philomena Fitzgerald, 9 St. John's Park, North Circular Road, Tralee.
