A SPARKY Santa and the hilarious songs of Mickey MacConnell ignited the festive mood at John B's for Christmas as the pub kicked off the week with a special concert.
With the famous bar packed, the workday cares of the year cast off, and Mickey MacConnell's talent centrestage, the night could only have brimming over with an unmistakably Listowel yuletide magic.
Santa Claus himself was among the many revellers, getting in some last-minute refreshment before his big day's work.
"We had a great night of it!" Billy Keane said. "Mickey MacConnell played his hilarious new song involving a commentary on certain supermarkets and Santa Claus was in as well, although it's rumoured it may have been a wellknown electrician dressed as Santa," Billy explained.
Mickey also performed a new song he wrote for Eoin Hand in a poignant and heart-warming narrative about the famous Dublin pub the former ROI manager grew up in: The Brazen Head off Usher's Quay.
John B Keane's was more than happy with the entire Christmas period. "It was the best Christmas we've had in the last four or five years. There was a lot of people home from the UK, America and Australia making it a pre- Gathering Gathering in a great week for the town," Billy said.
