AFTER the success of the inaugural Women in Media Ballybunion last year, the event is back from April 11- 13 with an even bigger and better programme.
The only event of its kind in Ireland, Women in Media aims to celebrate the success of women in Irish media and provide a forum for women to come together and debate important issues of the day. Throughout the weekend, the achievements of women in all aspects of the media, both nationally and internationally, are celebrated and acknowledged.
RTE's Miriam O'Callaghan and Katie Hannon together with Roisín Ingle of the Irish Times will return for a second year, while Dearbhail Mc Donald of the Irish Independent, Sarah Carey of Newstalk, former TD Mary O'Rourke, Aine Kerr of Storyful, Shane Phelan of the Irish Independent, David Labanyi of The Irish Times On-Line , ex Tánaiste, Dick Spring and Geraldine Kennedy, former Editor of the Irish Times, are all set to appear at this year's event.
The Women in Media event specifically acknowledges the lifetime achievements of two ladies with strong links to Ballybunion - the late Irish Times journalist Mary Cummins and internationally renowned novelist, the late Maeve Binchy who spent most of her teenage summers in Ballybunion.
