A LISTOWEL woman is to be assessed by the Probation Services after she admitted a number of thefts in Ballybunion during the summer of 2012, including the theft of a handbag and a mobile phone from JD's nightclub, as well as a handbag containing €210 at Cliff Road.
At Listowel District Court on Wednesday, Maria Griffin of Apartment 3 Dick Reidy's, College Cross, Listowel, admitted stealing a handbag and property from the Ballybunion Nightclub on July 11 and a phone and a handbag from the same premises July 17, as well as stealing a handbag containing €210 from the Cliff Road on August 8.
Solicitor Pat Enright said that his client had made fulsome admission to gardaí when questioned, without which these matters may never have come to court.
He said that his client, who has no previous convictions, had 'very significant difficulties' in the past but was anxious to deal with the matter.
Judge Aeneas McCarthy requested that a probation report be carried out on Ms Griffin and adjourned the case until November for finalisation
