ATHEA businessman and Limerick Person of the Year Tom Moran has warmly thanked everyone who supported his recent Tomathon walk from Limerick to Dublin which has already raised an incredible €118,000 for Pieta House...and the money is still coming in.
The 61-year-old, who completed the walk over ten days, said the event was an amazing journey in every sense.
"I am genuinely overwhelmed by the support, goodwill and generosity of everyone, from the Gardai, the Red Cross and our physiotherapists who ensured our safety and wellbeing along the way, to the famous faces that assisted in raising awareness of the walk, the walkers that joined us and all of my wonderful family and friends. The hospitality and generosity that was extended to us was beyond my expectations – we were often invited into people's homes for tea and refreshments" he said.
"My aim for The Tomathon was to raise enough money for Pieta House to be able to help 100 people in crisis and we have more than exceeded our target. I hope to God that we have also managed to save at least 100 lives. Equally important, if not more important, than the money raised, was the awareness raised for Pieta House and for suicide." he said.
