GARDAI in Killarney were called to a number of late night public order incidents, including a number of assaults which resulted in two people being hospitalised, in the town centre over the Bank Holiday weekend just gone by.
Following one incident on College Street at approximately 1.30am on Sunday a man required several stitches as a result of a serious facial laceration. Gardaí say they are following a definite line of enquiry into the incident, and an arrest is expected in the near future.
In a separate incident off High Street, a man is alleged to have received a blow to his face. He was taken to Cork University Hospital, also with facial injuries.
In total, Gardaí are investigating five alleged assaults throughout a weekend which brought a total of eleven arrests for public order offences in the town.
The incidents are in contrast to recent bank holiday weekends this year, which have been relatively trouble free in the Killarney area.
