EQUESTRIAN enthusiasts made their way to the Ballydavid and Ballyferriter area last weekend amid glorious weather conditions to participate in one of Kerry TREC's largest annual competitions.
TREC is a three-phase equestrian competitive discipline comprising orienteering, obstacles and control of pace. Four levels were contested at this competition west of Dingle, from beginners to international level, the first time a TREC competition of this level has been hosted in West Kerry.
Level 1 saw Louise Brassil and Martine Moriarty tie in first place while Carla O'Neill and Aisling O'Donovan proved their salt as Level 2 Pairs winners. Level 2 Individuals saw Sean Fitzgibbon take first place along with Bambi Carroll who emerged as Level 3's premiere competitor.
According to Sara Millar, Kerry TREC's West Kerry representative, the event was a great success and bodes well for the future of TREC events in the county.
